I made this quilt during one long winter in Alaska.   Everyone knows about the length, the cold and the dark of Alaskan winters, but sometimes folks in the lower forty eight don't realize the charm of spending those long months this far north.  The Northern Lights and the startlingly clear view of so many stars, for instance, are singular and very special.   It's a sense I tried to capture in this small quilt, just 12" by 15".
