JOURNEY

I moved from Alaska in April, 2000. It was a terribly difficult move in every respect. After my Alaskan winter, I was in search of the Sun to warm my body, spirit, and soul.  This quilt is about my journey to find the Sun. Drawn in about 30 minutes, this 12" square, 12-patch format seemed to lend itself nicely to the design.

This detail is from the center front.  This is me, finally basking in the warmth of the Sun after having taken a very convoluted Journey.

The back is also pieced and is the essence of the design on the front, reduced to one block and the simplest parts of the overall design.  I loved the back so much that I couldn't bear to attach the usual hanging sleeve, as it would have covered that lovely gold curve at the top.  So, I solved the problem by piecing the sleeve also, effectively making the quilt reversible.

I'm especially happy with my quilting on this project.   The quilt is approximately 38" X 50".
